Julian Rudolph ''Rudy'' Morton, Jr., 63, of Roanoke Rapids, died Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Rudy was a native of Onslow County, NC, the son of the late Julian Rudolph Morton, Sr. and Clara Elizabeth Stubbs Morton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Rudy was a member of First Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids and was a retired educator.

He is survived by his wife, Vicki Jordan Morton; his daughter, Faith M. Bingman and her husband, Eric, of Richmond, VA; his son, Jason Morton, of Charlotte; two grandsons, Jeremy Bingman and Jacob Morton; two brothers, Philip Morton of Jacksonville, FL and Andrew Morton of Cleveland, NY; and his niece, Jessica Morton.

Askew Funeral & Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids is handling the arrangements, where the family will receive friends on Saturday, November 13, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 14, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Julian Mills and Rev. Rick Gaskins officiating.

The flag in front of the funeral home flies at half-staff in honor of Mr. Morton’s service to his country.
